A "fungus" is a group of organisms (sometimes known as "germs"). Some types can cause skin problems on the surface, whereas others (yeasts) generally dwell on the skin or in the body. Fungi are responsible for fungal infections. Fungi are common in our environment and are formed by spore-bearing plants that lack chlorophyll. Mold, mildew, and yeast are frequent names for them. Because the fungus is so common, it is unavoidable that some will be inhaled into the lungs or fall on the skin. Fungus grows quickly in moist, dark environments with limited airflow. Fungi multiply and become irritated, resulting in a fungal infection. This can occur internally in the organs or externally on the skin and nails.
