February 04, 2023 36 people Latest news

Typhoid fever, also known as enteric fever, is a serious bacterial infection characterized by high fever, severe headache, and abdominal pain or discomfort. Typhoid fever, a common condition in developing countries such as India, is caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi. The bacteria spreads via contaminated water or food, either fecal-oral or urine-oral routes. Because typhoid is an enteric infection, it affects the intestine and thus the symptoms you may experience are digestive in nature. In most cases, the signs and symptoms of typhoid fever appear gradually 10-14 days after exposure to the bacteria. If anyone in your family has typhoid, or if you have any of the signs and symptoms of typhoid fever, you should see a doctor. To diagnose the condition, your doctor will perform a physical examination and order a few tests. Early symptoms include abdominal tenderness, enlarged spleen and liver, enlarged lymph nodes, and the development of a rash (also known as rose spots because of their appearance). However, clinical manifestations may differ from person to person.
